Many real estate agents and home investors like to contact me to find out if there is a ritual they could use to sell a house quickly and for the price they want. A recent reader wrote in:
I am a Realtor and have a home listed right now that I feel should have sold quickly. It’s beautiful and the price is right as well. Any idea on what I could do to bring good luck to this home, so that it will sell quickly? Our housing market is a bit slow right now, but this home is the best priced one in the area compared with other homes that offer the same features. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Being a property enthusiast myself, I’ve noticed that a house that has great features alone won’t sell it. I’ve been to houses that have all the great features but comments from open-home guests are that it just doesn’t feel right. It’s got to have good chi flow and this cannot be changed overnight. For example, if the house has a front door that directly faces the back door – this is a serious layout problem that would need walls built to remedy correctly (Windchimes in between are OK short-term fixes).
However, there is a ritual (I can’t remember the source though I’m afraid – I think it’s in one my aunt’s books) which uses the 5 elements method to bring on a quick sale. I can’t promise that it would bring you the price you want, but I have had clients and friends who have managed to move very difficult property or bring motivated buyers using this method.
Inside a red packet (angpow packet), place the following items:
- a small piece of wood from the kitchen of the house for sale
- a small piece of metal from the kitchen of the house for sale
- some earth from the garden of the house for sale
Then, find a fast-moving stream/river, and throw the red packet into the fast moving water. Visualise a quick sale of the house while throwing this into the water.
I also recommend doing some space clearing rituals to clear out stale chi before an open home.
Some other methods that I’ve heard of are:
- Hang a photo of the house for sale, and stick a “SOLD” sticker on it. Paste it somewhere you can see everyday (kitchen fridge) until it is sold.
- At the entrance of the house, hang a picture of a bird carrying a price tag (be hopeful, but realistic!) on it’s beak – flying in towards the house. It should not fly out.

Thanks for the tip on selling a house fast, I will try and let you know, the house that I am selling is a investment property so the photo of the house that is for sale can I put in in the house that I live in and see it everyday, will that be okay? Or is there anything diferent that I need to do.

You can still use this ritual. Bury a metallic object (e.g. a piece of metal, coin or metal nail) in the garden of this land for a few days – preferably for 9 days. And then place the metallic object, earth from the garden, a twig or piece of wood from the garden all into the red packet and throw it into fast moving river or stream.

Hi Wendy.. sorry to hear about this. You should investigate the feng shui of the house as it might have some issues with wealth sectors being under-utilised.. or layout issues that can be corrected. I recmomend buying Lillian Too’s Complete Illustrated Guide to Feng Shui as a starter book.. and follow her advice. Cheers H

can u plz give advise to sale a bakery.From 2yrs we are trying sale but not able to.It was running good but suddenly it came down & from 6months we are closing it.who every comes see they are pleased with it & they are abt to buy but next day they will reject it.We are going in big lose now.from 2yrs we didnt get any returns from that instead we have put money from home to run that & now we are paying rent without earning any thing from that.

Hi, We filled a red packet with all the items you suggested and put it in our car to take to a stream. However, before we got to the stream we were called back to the house by a potential purchaser and the house sold instantly. It sold within 24 hours of us advertising it. You can’t get much quicker than that! Thanks Honey!!!

I am going to try this – does the red packet have to be any kind of particular red packet? Also, does the metal from the kitchen have to be a cetain kind….i.e. can it be a coin that has been in the kitchend awhile?
Any type of red packet is fine as long as it’s fire red. As for the coin – only if the coin has been in the kitchen for a long time (like at least a few weeks).

Here’s one that the Catholics swear by. They buy a statue of St. Joseph and ask him to help sell their house in a prayer. Then they take it outside their house and bury upside down on his head. Many people claim that they did this when their house wouldn’t sell and it sold quickly. I’ve never tried it but would if I ever wanted to sell.

My home has been on the market 6 weeks, not a long time in this economy but I am anxious to move. I was going to try the red packet idea but I do not live close to any fast moving streams. I live at the beach. Could I toss the packet into the ocean or inlet?
We also have an investment property on the market for about the same amount of time. I am going to try the picture to see what happens with that.
I should add that as I was writing this email, our Realtor called to set up a second showing on our house.

I have never heard of this one. But I am in the process of selling my home and it has been very slow. I live in California and the housing market is NOT a sellers market. I will try this and let you know if it helps.

i am confused about the bird with tag on the beak. you say it should face inwards and here someone say face outside. can it be a bird toy with the tag on its beak?or it has to be a picture? i have one rubber eagle toy with the beak open and i could put a roll of paper into its beak as a tag? has the tag to be red colur?pls reply. i want to sell my house fast..thanx…roby
