Money Falling from Heaven

Yesterday, I had dinner at a local Malaysian/Thai/Vietnamese restaurant named Aseana located at Parnell (rumoured to be owned by Tony Tay, one of NZ’s more well-known developer greats).   If you’re Malaysian in NZ and in need of some authentic dishes, I recommend the Pandan Chicken  (a delightful dish of Thai origin that is found in Malaysia and the Roti Chanai. My mother in law particularly likes the curry laksa.

However, what took my notice wasn’t the food, but how the restaurant was decorated!

The decor of the place was contemporary Asian - with subtle lighting and lovely paintings on the wall.  The elephant metal-work behind the cashier was quite a nice touch of feng shui. Elephants symbolise protection and abundance so excellent choice for the cashier.

But the ceiling! That was the feng shui bit that took my notice! They had heaps of little money bags hanging across their ceiling! Now isn’t that just auspicious ? Money falling from heaven! What a great idea! Customers dining there will defintely feel a surge of wealth luck after dining. One thing I did notice was that the bags didn’t hang over the cashier - which was a bit of a feng shui oversight.  This can easily be remedied by hanging a few over the cashier and entrance of the building.

Money bags from Heaven (Aseana Restaurant)

If you decide to replicate this idea at home or for your business, you can hang these over your entrance, and over your cashier area of your shop. Another important aspect of implementing this is to include either some real money or i-ching coins inside the money bags.  Fake money will work too - if you’re using fake ones, print big bucks on them ($10,000 for example). If the bags are empty there is only the promise or appearance of money from heaven, but no real money (i.e. good revenue, but no profit? Expenses too high).
