One reader wrote in to ask about whtehr having a home at the cul-de-sac (dead end road) has dire feng shui consequences and what to do if this is the case:
We have just started building a new home at the end of a cul-de-sac. I have read that this is not the best place to be. We are trying to make sure our driveway isn’t straight but with a curved entrance but should we hang something (preferably not a Pakua mirror). Would a wind chime work and if so what kind.
There are 2 main reasons why feng shui advise against placing your home at the end of a dead-road. 1) You are at the mercy of the T-Junction effect and 2) energy that moves to the end of the road stays and does not change. This creates stale or dead Chi often associated with illness and theft.
As long as the main door of the house isn’t directly facing the road, it should be OK. solution of making one’s driveway curved is a very good one. To deal with the second problem (stale chi) ensure that the porch entrance is constantly lit. Windchimes and windmils in the garden leading up to the entrance also moves chi along.
