Are House on Stilts Good Feng Shui?

One reader wrote to me saying:

I have an unusual problem - I live in a house on stilts - about 50 feet off the ground. There are not any beams that send energy into this small living space - all of the beams are on the corners of the house, which is attached to the top of the ravine. Any suggestions for living in a de facto tree house, cautions, warnings, remedies? I would appreciate this very much - 8 years of semi-casual reading about feng shui and I haven’t come across any mention of this situation..

Honey’s Answer:

I’m afraid that living on stilts (where you can see a wide gap between the house and the ground) could be considered inauspicious. The idea of a house having no land beneath it represents NO support from below and all around. A house on the hill has the same problem but even a house on a hill has land directly beneath it. If the gap were quite small I’d recommend gibbing up around the stilts to give the appearance of land. Paint the gib a stone colour or better still, use real bricks instead of gib board.
